- Tiny mental overhead

- Long-term relationship-finance signal via the Alignment Score
Who should pick which
Pick DuetWallet if…
- You've merged or are merging finances with a partner
- You want budget discipline plus a weekly money conversation
- You've outgrown 'we'll just track who paid for what'
Pick Splitwise if…
- You're in a not-fully-merged situation (roommates, new relationship)
- You just want to track who owes whom and that's it
- You need to use the tool with people who aren't your partner
Honestly, Splitwise + a spreadsheet works if…
- Hear us out: not every couple needs a dedicated couples-finance app
- If Splitwise handles your shared expenses and a Google Sheet handles your budget, you're already getting most of the value
- DuetWallet adds the conversation ritual on top, but only invest in that if you actually want a ritual

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is DuetWallet replacing Splitwise?
Not really. They solve different jobs. Splitwise tracks IOUs between any people. DuetWallet is a couples-specific budgeting + conversation tool. Some couples use both.
Why would I pay for DuetWallet when Splitwise is free?
Splitwise doesn't have the weekly Money Date, the envelope budget, or the Alignment Score. If you don't need any of those, Splitwise is a great choice. If you want a money-conversation ritual, that's what you're paying for.
Can I track who paid for what in DuetWallet?
Indirectly through the envelope system. Purchases land in Yours, Theirs, or Ours and the totals balance out. We don't have explicit IOU tracking the way Splitwise does. If your couple uses an IOU pattern, Splitwise is the better tool for that piece.
