How we research, write, and update content.

DuetWallet writes about money and relationships: two topics where bad advice can do real damage. Here's how we keep ours honest.

Who writes for DuetWallet

All articles on duetwallet.com are written, reviewed, and published under the byline The DuetWallet Team. Our team includes the founders, product designers, and a small group of contributing writers with backgrounds in personal finance, behavioral economics, and relationship counseling.

We don't publish ghost-written or AI-generated content under a fake personal byline. When we use AI tools to help with research or drafting, the final article is rewritten, fact-checked, and edited by a human before publication.

What we research before we write

Every guide on this site cites at least three primary sources. We prefer:

  • Peer-reviewed research from institutions like the Gottman Institute, Kansas State University's Personal Financial Planning program, and the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE).
  • Government and regulatory data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Federal Reserve, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
  • Direct interviews with couples about their actual financial habits (anonymized when published).

We avoid citing other personal-finance blogs as primary sources. When we link to other publications, it's for additional reading, not for the authoritative claim.

How we fact-check

Before any guide goes live:

  • Every statistic is traced to its original source and verified against the latest available data.
  • Every claim about how DuetWallet works is verified against the current product.
  • Articles that touch on legal, tax, or investment topics include a reminder that we're not licensed advisors and a recommendation to consult one.

How we update content

Personal finance changes. Apps shut down, prices change, research gets updated. We refresh content on a regular schedule:

  • Comparison pages (DuetWallet vs Honeydue, Zeta, etc.): reviewed quarterly.
  • Pillar guides: refreshed every six months with new statistics and citations.
  • Cluster guides: reviewed annually, refreshed as the landscape shifts.
  • Glossary terms: reviewed annually.

Every article shows a Last updateddate at the top. When we make a substantive change, we update that date and note the change in our internal changelog. Cosmetic edits don't update the date.

How we handle conflicts of interest

DuetWallet is a paid app. When we compare ourselves to competitors on our /vs/ pages or recommend alternatives on our /alternatives/ pages, we have a commercial interest in your decision. We try to handle that conflict honestly:

  • We list at least one scenario where the competitor is the better choice on every comparison page.
  • We don't use affiliate links. The only thing on this site we're selling is DuetWallet itself.
  • We don't pay for placement in any third-party review or directory. Our G2 and Capterra listings are unpaid.

How we handle reader feedback

If you spot a factual error, an outdated statistic, or a broken claim about a competitor's pricing or features, email editorial@duetwallet.com. We fix verified errors within seven days and add a correction note when the change is substantive.

What we won't do

No clickbait. No fear-based hooks. No fake urgency. No AI-generated articles published as a real person's work. No sponsored content disguised as editorial. No comparisons to apps we haven't actually used for at least 30 days.
